Jennifer Sirangelo, CEO of Points of Light, named Chief Influencer

 

The Communications Board names Jennifer Sirangelo, CEO of Points of Light, as a Chief Influencer. 

Chief Influencer’s Anthony Shop, converses with Sirangelo about the evolution of civic engagement and her focus on empowering people to create positive change. In this episode, Sirangelo shares her experiences as a young leader and the importance of diverse experiences, trusting instincts, and community engagement. 

Sirangelo talks about her experiences starting her nonprofit career in a small organization, encouraging young people to gain diverse experiences before joining larger organizations. Now, as a leader at Points of Light, a global organization that focuses on volunteerism and civic engagement, Sirangelo manages various stakeholders, including board members, affiliates, NGOs, and non-affiliated groups. Sirangelo’s role is to carry out their strategic vision and serve them ethically while aligning with the organization's mission and values.

Sirangelo also discussed the Daily Points of Light award, which recognizes individuals making extraordinary contributions to their communities and serves as a powerful tool for cultural change.

Later in the episode, Sirangelo emphasizes the role of listening in connecting with diverse audiences, sharing examples of effective listening sessions and the importance of creating a space for employees to be heard. In addition, Sirangelo touches upon her experiences with technology and the importance of maintaining a human touch in communication and giving value to the voices and ideas of Generation Z in both personal and professional settings.
